January 2011 General Meeting
Well we started off 2011 with a bang. Great meeting full of important information from Judell with AASP about the upcoming legislative session, and Keith Risley with I Car.
AASP is currently looking at 3 important issues for body shops. They're looking at how to better evaluate threshold's for salvage vehicles. They're going to pursue shifting sales tax from point of sale to paint and materials on estimates, and at this point instead of licensing auto body facilities, do a "shop registration" with a possible $50 every 2 year fee. If anyone wants more info on any of these legislative items, check the AASP website or start coming to meetings!
Keith Risley with I Car addressed the groups comments and concerns about the I Car program. He explained in detail their pricing as well as big changes in the way I Car is doing business and updating their training programs. By the time he was done, everyone had a new found respect and understanding of I Car, as well as a much greater interest in getting classes to the Northland. Keith will evaluate the training records of local technicians to see what classed would best benefit our local member shops.
To reach Keith you can email him at keith.risley@i-car.com , he travels a great deal so give him a day or 2 to respond.

DUES DUES DUES DUES are due
Dues must be paid by January 15 to continue to be a part of the NCBA. They are still $200 for both members and associate members. They are payable to the NCBA, and should be mailed to Uncle Dunbars @ 210 E 1st St Duluth, Mn 55802 so Jody can include you in the 2011 list.
November Elections Meeting
As you can see the list of board members has a couple of changes. Mike Wicklund has agreed to stay on for 1 more year and will take the Chairman position with Rick Dunbar filling the Co Chair spot. George Eisenmann is a new member to our organization and was voted in for 1 board position with Todd Paulson from Charlie & Daves taking the other open spot.
Bob Schmidt from Invergrove Honda sponsored the evening meal, and vowed to continue the wonderful service we've all experienced in the past. If theres any shop thats not using Invergrove for their Honda parts I would encourage you to give them a try. Bob has gone way above what we would expect in a parts vendor, driving those MUST HAVE parts to the shop himself so a vehicle could be delivered on time. Bob also gave away some really nice prizes, with a leather and wool jacket going to Ralph Maki.
The subject came up of dates for the Holiday Party, with January 21 or 28 being the tentative best. Anyone that has a conflict could get in touch with a board member for input.
As always, we're looking for ideas for the upcoming NCBA year. Any thoughts?
